Ebb & Flow - Pilates, Yoga & Barre Studio in Farnham

I have been involved in sport all my life, it is my absolute passion…

…in my younger years I was a competitive gymnast & in my early 20’s I became a Gym Instructor, Aerobics Instructor & Personal Trainer. I continued to pursue this & build my own business until my late 20s when I started my family & took a break from my career.

It was whilst she was pregnant with her son that Tracey first practiced yoga & her introduction to Pilates came soon after, in the form of local Pilates instructor Zoe Hodgeson. Tracey loved Pilates from the first moment she took a class & still recognises Zoe as a go to for advice & mentorship.

Tracey clicked with Pilates because it took her back to her days as a gymnast; she loved the precision, the fluidity of the movements & the strength it built both physically & mentally. Pilates has been around for many years and the fundamentals that Joseph Pilates set out to achieve through his system of exercises are still relevant to the practice today. The classical mat series of exercises is still pretty much the same today as it was all those years ago! However, the added beauty today is that we can combine & work with a mix of classical exercises & more contemporary movements.

Tracey now teaches both Yoga & Pilates and strongly believes that they complement each other beautifully.  By adding Pilates into your routine you will help to build strength from within whilst improving concentration, balance & posture. Believe it or not it is also surprisingly meditative – try thinking about anything else whilst practicing Pilates!

You can usually find Tracey teaching all forms of Pilates, from the Classical mat series to more contemporary Pilates, fusing them together to form various classes.  She also works on a one-to-one basis for a more targeted practice or to rehabilitate after injury.

She also teaches a Dynamic Pilates class at Ebb&Flow at 6pm every Wednesday. This will be a fluid practice, using the concept of control rather than pushing endless reps, perfect for those who have a good understanding of the Pilates principals & the classical exercises. Expect to use resistance bands, Pilates rings and balls, with the ultimate goal of strengthening and isolating the right muscles.
